Moments like these

This was also seen down the park today. We have a family of peacocks who have the freedom of the townand are usually found strutting their stuff around the town centre. Today he was huddled up, clearly trying to ignore the cold.

Kit from new kits by Elise H - well worth a look

Walking in the Park

I went walking in the park today as it was (at last) sunny to try and grt some pics with snow and blue sky and saw this guy. He simply sat and watched us, probably waiting for food. He was very fat! They are vermin here as they kill the red squirrels - so my DD decided to give him a 'complex' about his weight by telling him he was fat repeatedly!!

a little late I know

It's a Crazy Old World

This is seriously mad - we haven't even reached New Year yet!

Serious Snow!

These were fun to make - probably more so than going outside today.
The snow still hasn't thawed, and we have been having hail on and off, the weather is definately, offically the snowiest |Christmas I remember.

Snow Beyonce

made by the girls who decided that a xnow woman was better than a snow man!

This was the view outside the house this morning - it has been snowing - a lot
this is the first really snowy Christmas I can remember for a while. Thank heavens for a 4-wheel drive!
Yesterday I didn't manage to get outside - but on Christmas Eve my DH and I went for a walk in the local park . It was virtually deserted, and the snow was wonderful. Still no blue skies though.

Snow Time

Its been snowing here, that is probaably a fairly major understatement. We walked down town to collect the food for Christmas, rather than taking the car. Watching the other cars skid all over the road confirmed that that was a good choice. The girls then built a snowman, or rather a snow-woman called Beyonce!.

Now all I need is some clear blue sky to take some magic photos.

Winter Wonderland?

berrries galore

Mad Cats

I don't know which of them this was - but from the size of the paw print I am thinking that it was Jorja - oh well, she is a Nowegian Forest Cat!

ands sitting in a shower has to be equally daft!

White Christmas - Maybe

Its been snowing here on and off for the last 3 day, whether it will end up as a 'White Christmas' is anyones guess today, depends if the cold weather holds

At least - there are plenty of berries this year

Love is -

I have had 'artists' - well scrappers block for the last 2 weeks, partly 'cos of all the chaos at work and at home, partly 'cos I haven't managed to take any pics, so I was very grateful to the Rocking Girls Blog for producing this challenge to get me going again.

Sunday 20 December 2009

One incredibly busy week at work
Two weeks holiday to come
Three children totally hyper (lots of fighting|)
Four big family meals to cook

This is Christmas
Haven't decided whether I love it or hate it yet!

Sunday 13 December 2009

more family history. This is one of the few wedding photos we have. We were far to broke to afford an official photographer, and I took most of what we have. In retrospect - it would have been worth the money

Christmas Presents

My father-in-law had his 80th birthday this summer and we threw a surprise party for him. He was brought by his son and the rest of the family were all waiting, although they did have to take a slight detour when our family were spotted by the driver heading to the restaurant rather in the nick of time. He had a wonderful time - so - this years present from me is an album containing 50 of the best photos from the day.

To enable me to do this with only minimal aggravation and swearing my wonderful DH gave me my present early - a Spyder to sort out the colour of my new monitor. It worked!! Minimal trouble to set up, and so far only 1 reprint (my fault - I'd not removed a blue cast) out of 20. Only problem is - I think I'm going to be his favourite and unpopular with everyone else, the whole family tends to moan at seeing pics of themselves!

Family Tree 2

Family Tree

I am working on the Family Tree Challenge from Joanne Brisbois at Oscraps. I don't do geneology - but it does fit in with my recent push to scrap old family photos. Its not that I'm not interested, its more a factor of time available.

this is where we are at present

and this is where my family was about 90 years ago. My grandmother must have been very tough to bring up 8 children (only 7 so far in the photo), I do not envy her at all.

Sweet Jorja

This is a serious mismomer. Jorja is a Norwegian Forest Cat, she is extremely large and varies between being completely soppy and having a wicked temper. She regularly beats up the other cats - but then if the smallest one hisses at her she runs away. She is frequently found having her tummy rubbed with a sloppy expression on her face, or curled up on her Dad's lap licking his arm. Definitely a cat with a split personality

Bernie

this has to be my most favourite picture of Bernie, taken in our back garden one summer

New Moon

Today I was taken to see 'New Moon' by my teenage daughter. Last week I watched 'Twilight' at home so I would understand the plot! Teenage angst with vampires. Actually I like fantasy books, and also fantasy films - but am not convinced the plot line here is strong enough to support 4 books (and therefore presumably 4 films). Vampires seem to be the 'in thing' for teenagers at present as every other book she reads is about them. I guess it could be worse.

By the Sea

in my endless browse though photos I came across these, part of many thousands (!) taken on our walks around the coastal path. I've never really done anything with them - so decided it was time to start on another project!  As if I didn't have enough to do - so they will gradually appear.

More Christmas Memories

still working on Christmas memories. Unfortunately this pair of cats are no longer with us - but they did manage to reach the age of 20 years. Alice was determined that the cats should not miss out on Christmas Day!

slightly older here - but still very excited about this time of year

Old Photos

I have aquired some copies of old (early 20th C) family photos from a cousin - so I am gradually working on them.

this is my grandfather who I never met - he was a Special Constable in WW1 as he was too old be be in the forces. I think he's very handsome

this is the cycle shop he owned in the south of England somewhere

both made with the help of Christina Renee Designs available at Oscraps

still looking though the old photos - we don't often have this much snow - so when it happens the kids make much of it (or at least they used to - maybe they will all be too old and staid if it snows this year!)

Monday 30 November 2009

its odd how looking back at old Christmas photos puts you in the mood and brings a smile - even in the midst of frantically trying to decide what to do this year (my husband is on shift both 25th and 26th) - so plans need to be made so that he doesn't miss the high spots (mainly the meal!).

More Christmas memories: this one was when youngest was given a rocking horse one year - her face is brilliant and I can still remember her joy

_The Glen

We went for a walk today in our favourite spot, Pittencrieff Glen, when they were young the kids used to call this the 'Monster Run' because of the number of small holes alongside the path , which they were sure held monsters THAT WOULD LEAP OUT AND CHASE THEM!

Nowadays its just the two of us walking there usually. Today the burn was running very fast and makes this waterfall look impressive, so I played around with shutter speeds - this slow (about 1/15 so am impressed that it was sharp)
