FOR TODAY

Outside my window...  it is sunny, earlier it was very humid but its now a lovely evening. Possibly I might go for a walk in a bit to see if the deer at the end of the street is around.
I am thinking... that flowers are magic, someof the colours I saw today are so brilliant that they might be painted
I am thankful for... an evening on my own, everybody else is out and I can do and eat what I want
From the kitchen... supper tonight was Chinnese noodle soup with dum sum, followed by ice cream with chocolate sauce, OK a really weird mixture
I am wearing... tatty jeans and a Pink Floyd T (again), but I have got my outfit for the graduation do. A cream trouser suit with a red top and shoes etc. Very smart
I am creating... mostly playing with flowers as usual.
I am reading... lots of photography mags - trying to improve my b/w skills, also just finished the latest Karen Rose - I Can See You - very scary in places, first of hers I've tryed
I am hoping... that next week will go well, 2 graduations, 1 champagne reception, 2 meals out and lots of partying.
I am hearing... absolute silence - this is bliss
One of my favorite things...
is my camera, a girls best toy!
A few plans for the rest of the week:
as noted above - lots of celebrations
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

It's Saturday

My DH has been at work and I've taken a teenager shopping! I definitely needed relaxation when I got home, so played with some unused photos

The Simple Woman's Daybook

with thanks to:

Outside my window... the weather is gray  - but the cat is still sitting on the wall, staring into space , I think she's defending her territory against the neighbours cat again.
I am thinking... that Arbroath Smokies are wonderful (we had them fresh smoked off the market stall for lunch). They are a local treat, and fab to eat in the park on the way home
I am thankful for... having fun with the kids, singing in the car at top volume, listening to Lucy Kaplansky and joining in
From the learning rooms... working hard on black and white photography, especially on getting good prints, different papers make an enormous change, planning to try out some more
From the kitchen...pasta with tomato and cheese sauce (a staple of our diet)
I am wearing... a Grateful Dead T
I am creating... a series of photos of my family to frame, very difficult as they all don't like having pictures taken
I am going... to both my DH's and my DD's graduation ceremonies in 2 weeks
I am reading...
Corduroy Mansions by Alexander McCall Smith
I am hoping... for a sunny day tomorrow to go for a walk
I am hearing... my daughter singing in the kitchen (she has a lovely voice)
One of my favourite things... is walking in our local park and talking photos
A few plans for the rest of the week: work, sleep, and work again, a necessary evil in life

Here is picture of the making of Arbroath Smokies

Textured Flowers

an obsession of mine, playing around with flowers, I love these but my other half hates them - so a dark to light theme seemed right to me.

Colours in the Glen

the colours of the flowers this year have been magical, especially the poppies - but also the thistles and the blossom

Dumfries

We spent 3 days near Dumfries recently, staying in Cavens House Hotel Lodge. It was fabulous, the weather was good-ish, (only rained on the way home), the food marvellous, simple cooking with excellent ingredients, and so much to do and see .that we didn't get around it all. In fact, we had so much fun that we are going back in the summer. I only(!) took 700 photos - of which thwe ones below are a small sample.

Delayed posting!

Ok - Its been a long while but I'm not sure why! The weather has been variable - so I've had time inside and outside, these are all excuses!
